Joined Betfair three years ago. Made a few hundred very quickly and convinced myself I was a 'professional gambler', when I now realise it was beginner's luck.

Today I'm £4,000 in the red but am lucky enough that, whilst this might seem an appalling amount of money to most people, it isn't a huge dent in my income.

Now, I reached £4,000 the traditional way, by convincing myself that I'd take out some more money and win back my losses and this just made the losses grow bigger and bigger.

But here's where we differ. I've realised that I am a crap gambler and will never break even. So I've written off the 4K and stopped. It's been an expensive lesson but I've learned it and will waste my money on something else from now on.

I suppose, for me, it's been like cigarettes. I used to chain smoke but 12 years ago said 'This is bollocks' and have never smoked since.

So yes, I suppose it is an addiction but it's entirely beatable.

Good luck! (As if gamblers have any luck.....)Jimnoreply@blogger.com
